Description: Join us for lunch and a moderated discussion with Jill Marcus, President and Co-Owner of The Mother Earth Group, an award-winning restaurateur with notable restaurants including Halycon, Fern, and Something Classic Catering and Cafes across Charlotte.  Over her 30 year career in the industry, she has been the recipient of the “Restaurateur of the Year” award from Charlotte Magazine, recognized as a “Top 25 Woman in Business” by the Charlotte Business Journal, and nominated for “Best New Restaurant” by the James Beard Foundation after opening Halycon. Jill is a graduate of Davidson College where she played on the National Championship Tennis Team. When Jill isn’t blazing a new trail through the culinary world, she enjoys traveling with her husband and two sons or playing tennis.

Jill will discuss the founding of the company and how it has evolved over the past 30 years. As a child, her family ate simply and didn’t eat out frequently. When Jill was in college, she studied abroad in France and fell in love with new foods and culinary experiences. Through Jill’s travels, she manages to stay inspired and return to her business with fresh ideas constantly. She will share her dynamic approach to leadership and how she shapes the culture for her organization while always keeping what is best for the environment and the less fortunate in her community in focus.

The conversation will be moderated by John Woodcock, Charlotte Market Leader for the Center for Private Business.

Who is this for? All roles and levels of experience can benefit from Jill’s story.

Members of the Center for Private Business may attend this event for free. Non-Members are $50 per person.
